Why do I need to replace my store PCs?
The quality of hardware has increased greatly in PCs allowing them to run much longer than in previous years. It is not uncommon to see PCs outlive the windows software which runs on them. This is great in helping to reduce cost to pharmacies.
To the right is a table outlying some approximate installations times and the parties responsible for installation of such software. You will see that majority of installations are carried out by the software practices which are out of control of Accelerate.
Proactive replacement simply means replacing the PC before it fails and causes the store disruption. The frequency of PC replacements should really be a considered decision where the age of the PC, and the impact of this PCs failure is weighed up.
By not proactively replacing (waiting for the PC to fail), you are exposing yourself to discontinuation of service as outlined in the table.
Windows End of Life
Separate to hardware, the operating system (software) also has a life span. When a Windows operating system becomes end of life it means that Microsoft is no longer providing security updates or bug fixes. Windows 7 receives approx. 3 security patches per week. Windows 7 will become end of life January 14th 2020. It is highly recommended you do not have any Windows 7 by this date.
